Author’s Note: The Author’s purpose is to inform the reader on the conflict and resolution in the story “Thank you Ma’am” by Langston Hughes, and what I think of it.
The main conflict in the story “Thank you Ma’am” by Langston Hughes is the boy tried to steal her purse and gets caught so she brings him home. Now he has to make the decision to run away from her or stay in the house. As time goes on he starts wanting the old lady to trust him, and he is starting to trust her that she won’t turn him in to the police.
He keeps looking at the wide open door while she isn’t watching and thinking about dashing but he finally realizes that she trusts him not to run from her and to stay put.
The resolution to the main conflict is that he stays in the house and the old lady just lets him go but tells him not to steal anymore bags from people. Also, she gives him ten dollars for his shoes.
I like how you explain the situation and how it happened, but the author needs to go in the authors note not the introduction.
