Author's Note: Currently in book club we are reading Animal Farm, a book about the Russian revolution. I am doing a response I what I think so far. Mostly about Napoleon and his ways, and who my favorite character is and why.
I think that the commandments of the farm house are reasonable. I think that just because the pigs are the smartest, they think they should be in charge. I feel like Squealer is Napoleon's servant, if the animals seemed worked up to Napoleon he will send Squealer to talk to them. I think that Napoleon is sort of setting it up to where if the other animals find out that he broke the rules he can blame it all on Squealer. Napoleon makes "friends" and manipulates them for his on ways, and if they try to stop him, he will for surely get rid of them right away.
My favorite character so far is probably Snowball, because he challenges Napoleon for the ultimate power of the animal farm after the rebellion. Snowball is intelligent, passionate, eloquent, and less subtle and devious than his counterpart, Napoleon. It also seems like he wins most of the animals loyalty and cements his power.
You had some very interesting thoughts on the book so far. I would have rather had Snowball as a leader too. Without him things have become more of a dictator-ship then it was supposed to be.
ReplyDeleteNice job. You really show opinion in this response. I thought that your thoughts were very well put out. I like how you had your main topics stated in your author's note, just remember to italicize that next time. Great response!
ReplyDeleteI thought this piece had a lot of opinion in it. It had a really great point and I agree with you.
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job with this response and I think you confirmed everyone's thoughts on snowball. I really liked it, good job.
ReplyDeleteNice vocab use! You did a nice job of expressing opinion, just maybe next time include some real life examples. Great job of pulling out main ideas, and I definitely agree with everything you said... nice job!
ReplyDeleteI liked your opinion and your organization.
ReplyDeleteI thought Snowball would have been the better of the two also. Napolean just didn't want to be washed aside and not be in charge so he kicked snowball off the farm. I thought your opinion really showed in this piece.
ReplyDeleteGood vocabulary at the end there! I enjoyed the piece more and more as it wore on. It started like you were barely engaged, and then built to you including some really excellent insight into the way they are manipulating one another. Be sure to include as much information as necessary to make a clear, convincing point.
ReplyDeleteI like your vocab a lot and how you rationaled why Napoleon uses squealer, but you were a little bland in the begining.
